I already have several Shun Classic knives for the kitchen that I am very happy with, so when I wanted steak knives for the dinner table, these were a natural choice. Because these knives are used at the table on dinner plates instead of in the kitchen on proper cutting surfaces, care must be taken not to saw the fine edge onto the dinner plate. It will quickly dull the fine edge. The knives are sharp so you can easily and gently cut your food, but when the edge gets close to the plate, ease up on the pressure and angle the blade to the point (tip) for the last final cut. That will protect the edge and your knives will stay sharp much longer.
