The KAI 5210/5220 blade caps are made of a heavy-duty plastic polymer that protects the scissor tips from piercing unwanted fabrics and materials when not in use. It also protects the tips from damage, when stored. These blade caps fit the following models of Kai scissors: the Kai N5210, N5210L, V5210, N5220, as well as the 5220L.

I have two pairs of Kai scissors--5210 and 5240. This blade cap fits them both, but I bought two so I could keep both pairs covered. I have a habit of leaving my shears on my cutting table and then dumping fabric on top of them when I'm going through my stash for a project. These caps have already prevented accidental holes in my fabric several times. They also protect the tips from being dinged if you put your shears in a drawer or box with other hard objects (mine live in an organizer tray with hem gauges, seam rippers, Sharpies, etc.). I like the fact that it's a hard plastic cover that fits around the hinge nut so you never have to worry about whether you've pushed it down too far. It also has space between the end of the cap and the tips of the scissors. I've had soft plastic tip covers before, but it was too easy to poke the scissor tips through those. This hard cap is so much better--like a little hard hat for your sharp scissor tips. Any time I order another pair of Kai scissors (I have my eye on some bent handle shears at the moment) I'll also be ordering another one of these blade caps.

This blade cap fits perfectly on the KAI shears that I ordered. Makes storing the shears safer and takes good care of the blades.

This is a very good scissors cap, it holds on mostly by tension and snaps on easily and comes off very easily as well, yet in the months I have had it it has never come off accidentally. I find I actually use the cover all the time
I just wish caps were available for other scissors, especially the N3160
